DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVES ROUNDTABLE
MONTHLY LUNCHEON
Dare to be Different: Dare to Dream
Date & Time: February 10, 2012 12:00 – 1:30
Location: LightHouse for the Blind 214 Van Ness Avenue San Francisco
The author of High Impact Philanthropy: How Donors, Boards, and Nonprofit Organizations Can Transform Communities will offer a provocative and inspiring challenge to us to have not only the courage to be different, but to dare to dream. Kay Sprinkel Grace will caution us that we may lose our edge of excellence if we allow daily demands to get in the way of big dreams about how we can change our communities and have a huge impact. It does not cost anything to dream, and you can hold a dream while maintaining your important commitment to sound fiscal practices and execution of your strategic plan. This is not an "either/or"—it is a "both/and." Her inspirational stories of organizations that dared to dream will remind us that our entire sector is the result of the dreams of our founders who imagined a better community through the educational, health, social, environmental, arts and cultural programs they created for our communities.
Speaker: Kay Sprinkel Grace is passionate about philanthropy and has devoted the last thirty years to the nonprofit sector, providing seminal thought, habit-breaking strategies, challenges to board and staff, and reengineering the vocabulary of fundraising. Her six books and frequent speaking engagements across the globe reflect her restless quest for an ever-improved capacity of organizations to truly serve their communities. A Stanford graduate (BA, MA), she has built on a career in journalism and education to create a business practice and reputation that draw from the best of both.
